Baalbek, Social Media, Books and much more on Helwi Beirut’s episode 88

Hi all,

Our first guest is Future Bloc MP Nabil de Freige who talked about his childhood, his studies and how he started taking interest into politics. He also shared with us his love for travel and sports.

We met with director Samir Syriani that introduced us to his new movie called 3a Baalbeck. It tells the story of an odd couple, Raya and Saloum, who decides to visit the famous site of Baalbek with a red convertible. They set off on their search, sometimes with no directions in the desiccated desert. Perplexed they will face the strangest situations, the path eventually takes over, and the destination is lost. The film won the Special Jury Award in the NDU Students film Festival.

Our next guest is Mohammad Hijazi founder and president of the AUB’s online collaboration and Malek Teffaha the PR manager at AUB’s Online collaboration. The AUB Online collaboration is a group of social media enthusiasts and experienced individuals in the digital media world that help promote proper digital citizenship through making the most of social media in the best ways possible.

Their mission:

  • To support and encourage AUB bloggers and users of social media (such as Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare, etc..)
  • To promote the usage of such tools amongst other AUB students given their current popularity and importance.

Their objectives:

  • To gather the bloggers and users of social media under one organization in order to facilitate common activities and interests.
  • To encourage AUB students to start their own blogs and help them get started by teaching them the technical and cultural aspects of social media.

We also met with photographer Imad Taouk that presented his new book “Nafiza 3ala al-Bariha” that was published two weeks ago. This book consists of pictures he took during the eighties and nineties.

Our final guest was Gerard Bejjano who talked about his new book La Parenthese and we saw a report of his book signing.

Hope you enjoyed the show and see you tomorrow

Love,

Helwi Beirut
