President of Zamanouna Association, Ghida Balaa Jaroudi explained to us more about the association. Zamanouna hopes to raise substantial funds which will have the association bring assistance to a large number of people in need. The association also supports 120 families on yearly basis such as paying university fees or school fees. They are now working on an event for the festive season called “Fikrat wa Hadiyat”. The concept is like a garage sale and will take place on the 15th of Decmber at Holiday Inn Dunes.
Reproductive Endocrinologist and Executive Director of the Middle East Fertility Society Dr. Michel Abou Abdallah talked to us about MEFS. The Middle East Fertility Society or MEFS was established in 1992 and gathers doctors from the Middle East and North Africa.
Rania Attieh and Daniel Garcia director of “Ok, Enough, Goodbye” were our guests on today’s show. Rania is from Tripoli, Lebanon. She has a Master of Fine Arts from City College, New York. Daniel Garcia is from South Texas. He graduated with a Master of Fine Arts recently from New York University, Tisch Graduate School of the Arts. Besides collaborating together as visual artists, they directed many short films and video clips. Many of their short films participated at the Anthology Film Archives in New York City, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and many other film festivals. One of their films “The Parapet” was a regional finalist in the 32nd Annual Student Academy Awards in 2005 and the film “Almost Brooklyn” won the Best Short Fiction in the Brooklyn Art Council 2008. The short film “Tripoli, Quiet” won the Black Pearl Award for the Best Middle Eastern Short Film at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival in October 2009.Their first feature film is “Ok, Enough, Goodbye”. The film won the Black Pearl Award for the Best New Director from the Arab World in the Abu Dhabi Film Festival in 2010.The film will be available in theaters in Lebanon beginning of 2012.Check out the synopsis for the film http://www.okenoughgoodbye.com/synopsis.html It is written and directed by Rania Attieh and Daniel Garcia and the main actor is Daniel Arzouni.
