Our main guest for today was specialist in clinical psychology and art therapy, Rima Ayoub. She is a member of the American Art Therapist Association. Art therapy integrates psychotherapeutic techniques witht the creative process to improve mental health and well-being. The American Art Therapy Association describes art therapy as “a mental health profession that uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of individuals of all ages. It is based on the belief that the creative process involved in artistic self-expression helps people to resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, increase self-esteem and self-awareness, and achieve insight.” Rima Ayoub is also an artist and is preparing for an exhibition.
Writer Roy Hareb talked about his book “Koset Omer”. Roy is a media coordinator for the Municipality of Hazmieh and a technical director in an institution. This is his first writing experience. The signing of the book will be on the 7th of December in the Beirut Book Fair.
Amanda Abi Khalil, artistic director at The Hangar and Dutch director Jean Van de Velde were on our show for today. The Hangar” was founded by “UMAM Documentation and Research” and aims at launching a series of cultural and artistic projects. Director Jean Van de Valde is preparing for a screening of him film “WIT LICHT” or “White Light” at Beirut and he had already presented it in Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival. The film is 105 minutes long.
During our body language segment, body language expert Habib el Khoury continued last week’s discussion. He gave more guidelines to parents for their children under the age of one.
During our book segment, Rachel Khalil Halik talked about her book “You Are My Secret Garden” which discusses a life of treachery. Almost all the characters in the book are unfaithful and deceitful. 46 year old Reyena is married to 63 year old Eric. She learns to hate as she lives a life of loneliness. She then becomes Neil’s mistress. Her 27 year old son Ashton finds out that his girlfriend Julia has been cheating on him. The novel discusses treachery in all its forms. In the words of Rachel Khalil Halik, “It is a thrilling novel that awakens your senses and stimulates your best and worst feelings of thrill, of bliss, of passion, of love and the danger and fear of losing all”.
